Pier 17 with the cult

I usually do not post pictures of concerts but I had a wonderful experience at a recent event that I thought I would share. I have photographed bands before, but mainly in a recording studio or a set up for an album cover. These images are more of a “capture in a day” or experience of the day. The band was The Cult, they were performing at Pier 17 in New York.

The Fujifilm x20 is what I like to refer as my bicycle camera. It is so light and compact that I love to take it along everywhere I go. it is not 35 or 50 megapixels like my professional cameras but it is so much fun to shoot my personal stuff with. photoshoot for a corporate client

I photographed a gathering at Gray Barns in Silvermine for Exclusive Resorts. It was a very simple shoot where the client basically said that they wanted a mix of candid and posed images for their website. I have photographed at Gray Barns a bunch of times so I am very familiar with the grounds. This particular shoot was at the actual barn on the property which is a refurbished and really nice to shoot in. I worked with available light and bounced some flash. The feel of the barn was so relaxed and fun to work in. The clients were in a very good mood and the food and wine tasting was superb. I enjoy shooting candidly in a group of people. My goal in my mind is to get everyone who is at the function. Somehow recording everyone who is there along with some fun background images.

Sunrise chasing in Connecticut

As a photographer you need to have inspiration and a great way of getting this is by going out with your camera and attempting on being creative. I had a lot of help being creative the other morning by my 14 year old son Penn. He inspired me to photograph a lighthouse located a mile or so offshore. I do have a boat, so why not? We got up at 4:30am and were down at the dock a little later. After a few pulls at the engine, we got her started and were on our way.

Things got a little hairy when my drone’s batteries were running very low and I knew I did not have enough battery to reach our boat over the water. So I chose a nearby island, called “grass island” and I landed it in the middle.

I had to use the “find my drone” feature because their were thousands of sea gulls with their babies, nests and eggs. Even though the drone was blinking lights and beeping, it took Penn and I a few minutes to find it. The gulls were not happy with us and they were all making a ton of noise.

Opening Bell at Nasdaq

I was commissioned to photograph an Icelandic Company named Alvotech. They were being introduced to Nasdaq and were going to “ring the bell”. I was very excited to see the layout of the studio and was given the what to do and what not to do while I was in there. I was hoping to see Kramer, but he must have slid past me while I wasn’t looking. The experience was very thrilling and I will never forget it.
