Michael the homeowner hired me to drone his home last week. His septic failed and he wanted images of the work that was being done to his yard. When I arrived, I was happy to see my friend Paul Lauterbach. We played college baseball together and my dad was good friends with his dad. He does great work and I was so happy to see him.
The drone is such a useful tool to show work that is being done to a property. You will never get a shot of this area open again and this shows the whole layout.
The police made it very clear that photographing this event would not get me out of getting tickets for speeding in Westport.
It was a blast! The first annual PAL ( Police athletic league ) Gala. Many of Westport’s heavy hitters were there and I really had fun fraternizing and photographing them. Here are just a few images. The event was held at The Inn at Longshore in Westport, CT.
The Inn at Longshore always looks good.
These guys hired me and put the whole Gala together.
I always love the silent auction, they had some really good stuff too.
Some people ham it up.
An award was given to Coach Lane and his son Skip accepted on his behalf.
Think about attending next years Gala, it was truly amazing!
I was fortunate enough to have Westport Downtown Association hire me to capture Westoberfest. Westoberfest is a beer tasting, food eating music playing festival that takes place in downtown Westport. The previous beerfest there were 750 people and in this one there were over 1200. So I think people were in the mood to taste beer and have fun.
For me, I really enjoy getting down tight with people and getting their expressions. I will also mix anything like this with some drone footage. I do have my drone license so I am authorized to fly above people. For a perfect day like this, it is really fun to capture candid photos of what is going on.
I photographed Rach’s walk at South Compo Beach. This year’s weather was perfect and it made flying my drone so much easier.
Rach’s Hope is an annual walk to raise awareness of families effected by a child’s illness requiring extensive stays in a hospital or intensive care. The Pizza Pie Wagon Truck catered the party and the pizza was delicious. I use a variety of lenses on every photoshoot. I love my 70-200mm, but I will often change to a wide angle to complete the story.

Pizza was really really good. Pizza Pie Wagon Truck out of Monroe.
I photographed Pinkchella this year for Westport Lifestyle Magazine. Pinkchella is a fashion show held at Mitchell’s of Westport and produced by Pinkaid. The fashion show highlighted by breast cancer survivors was hoping to raise over a million dollars to help cancer patients. Light bites a silent auction and a live auction greeted all participants. I enjoy photographing these events, especially when the cause is so great!
I call myself a multi genre photographer. This is because I enjoy photographing everything from people to dogs to shooting aerials with my drone. I photograph weddings and I really have a great time capturing expressions and the intimacy of the day. This past weekend I was at The Inn at Longshore, one of my favorite places to photograph ( I only live a mile away ).
The backdrop is so nice at Longshore, it is tough to not get a good picture here. I actually learned how to water ski right behind them 40 years ago.
I learned to shoot products working for OneKreate in Hollywood Florida. Most of the sets that we were photographing was for Walmart. These images would be used in flyers, catalogs and advertising. Some actually were for billboards. The experience was exhilarating and I enjoyed every moment down there.
The watches I shot here are from an estate, The client will auction these off so they needed some spectacular images of them for their catalog.
I know phones have taken over everything including cameras and watches but I still wear a watch, I like the feel of them and the classic look.
I usually do not post pictures of concerts but I had a wonderful experience at a recent event that I thought I would share. I have photographed bands before, but mainly in a recording studio or a set up for an album cover. These images are more of a “capture in a day” or experience of the day. The band was The Cult, they were performing at Pier 17 in New York.
The Fujifilm x20 is what I like to refer as my bicycle camera. It is so light and compact that I love to take it along everywhere I go. it is not 35 or 50 megapixels like my professional cameras but it is so much fun to shoot my personal stuff with. By the way, if you are looking to buy a new or used camera, I always check out DP review first. They are the best website with a lot of information.
I photographed a gathering at Gray Barns in Silvermine for Exclusive Resorts. It was a very simple shoot where the client basically said that they wanted a mix of candid and posed images for their website. I have photographed at Gray Barns a bunch of times so I am very familiar with the grounds. This particular shoot was at the actual barn on the property which is a refurbished and really nice to shoot in. I worked with available light and bounced some flash. The feel of the barn was so relaxed and fun to work in. The clients were in a very good mood and the food and wine tasting was superb. I enjoy shooting candidly in a group of people. My goal in my mind is to get everyone who is at the function. Somehow recording everyone who is there along with some fun background images.
As a photographer you need to have inspiration and a great way of getting this is by going out with your camera and attempting on being creative. I had a lot of help being creative the other morning by my 14 year old son Penn. He inspired me to photograph a lighthouse located a mile or so offshore. I do have a boat, so why not? We got up at 4:30am and were down at the dock a little later. After a few pulls at the engine, we got her started and were on our way.
Things got a little hairy when my drone’s batteries were running very low and I knew I did not have enough battery to reach our boat over the water. So I chose a nearby island, called “grass island” and I landed it in the middle.
I had to use the “find my drone” feature because their were thousands of sea gulls with their babies, nests and eggs. Even though the drone was blinking lights and beeping, it took Penn and I a few minutes to find it. The gulls were not happy with us and they were all making a ton of noise.
