Goodbye Winter

We really did not have that much snow in Southern Connecticut. I did have the opportunity to get some “snow” shots, but I also like the winter light and I think the sunsets are very beautiful. There is something about the contrast and crisp light that winter brings. As a tribute to winter, I have here an image that received the most dialogue from any other image I took this winter. It is a drone shot looking straight down with trees dappled around a long streak of road. I had this printed with a float frame and it is simply gorgeous. Thank you for looking. Bring on spring!

Baseball Spring Training Photography

Staple High School Baseball has winter workouts at The Sono Field house in Norwalk. If you have never been there. it is a very large athletic facility where teams can train and play their sport. With the soon-to-be baseball season quickly approaching, I was asked to photograph the boy’s training.

A mix of hitting and fielding.
Loosening up.
Fielding grounders.
Cameraderie
“fungo”
Feels like Florida.
The white bucket always says baseball to me.
action.
The pitch.
This really brings me back.
Thank god for netting.
The lighting is tough but looks good.
I think they are ready.

Wynwood Walls Miami

The week before Covid hit, I was in South Beach Miami photographing a conference. I overheard a bunch of people talking about Wynwood Walls and how awesome it was. I never got the chance to see it because I was just too busy shooting for the client. But my time had finally come. I recently visited South Beach again and this time, I had enough time to visit Wynwood Walls. There is a museum here that made this well worth the visit.

The telephone lines add to the image.
everywhere you walk is wall art. This is at a construction site.
even the sidewalks have street art.
there are many blocks of wall art in Wynwood.
we actually rode our citi bikes from south beach to Wynwood.
I am a big fan of the spiderman.
star wars too!
the details are amazing.
these steps lead to an amazing rooftop restaurant.
there is a museum here which is worth a visit.
the museum has lots of interesting art.
these images were photographed using a Fujifilm xpro 1.
lots of instagram moments.
the streets are buzzing with color.
no more wall art, I thought this was an interesting image.

We really enjoyed Wynwood and I am so happy that I got the chance to experience it. The art, the street vibe, and we went to a Mexican Restaurant Bakan, which was excellent and I highly recommend.

Row House Photo Shoot

I photographed The Row House in Westport for Westport Lifestyle Magazine. Before shooting for them I must say, I found rowing an uninspiring sport where it looked like misery and hard work. After talking and shooting with the ladies at The Row House, I have changed my mind. It is hard work, but the misery has been taken out of the equation. It is actually fun and everyone that I talked to really enjoyed what they were doing. The challenge of the shoot was the dark lighting in the studio. A simple two-light kit is what I used. The main light was bounced because I did not want it to look so artificially lit and then a little kicker light in the back to separate the people. These images are the type of shoot most companies would use for branding their company. It is fun, whimsical, and unforced. I will do some setup poses, but this was more of a natural-type shoot.

Energy!!
Challenging light and mirrors.
MUSCLES!

Team photos

I have photographed many team pictures in my day. From little league to volleyball, to corporate groups. With Covid, there have been fewer team pictures. Now, it feels like we are getting back to some kind of normalcy. During covid, I photographed and shot a lot of videos of homes. The market was hot and we had to improvise and offer clients great photography at an affordable price. All with masks and a lot of sanitizers.

The single portrait is very popular now but I think the group shots will be coming soon too. Here is a photoshoot I had this week with The Staples Wrestling Team. They are such great kids and we had a lot of fun

Branding photography for sisters who work together

Janine and Michele started their own company called Dwell Organized. They organize everything. I photographed their website last year. These were images showcasing their work and what they do. This time, they wanted some portraits. They wanted simple images that were clean and bright. Something they could use on their Instagram and social media. This was a simple setup where I used two lights. One main light and one fill light where I would also use it as a backlight.

Compo Beach Polar Bears Sited

While on a cruise through Compo Beach with my youngest son, I noticed a few strange things happening in the water. It was a couple of people swimming in the water. This is usually not a big deal but the water temperature was a little above 30 degrees and so was the outdoor temperature.

Shot with my DJI Mavic air 2

The light was perfect, but I only got the chance to get them coming out of the surf. One of the swimmers approached me and asked if I was the drone operator. I said that I was and that I got only one goodie of them and it was not of them swimming. ” no worries, we are here a few times a week and next week we will do a birthday swim since it is my birthday.”

zoomed in with my 70-200mm, I love how Canon cameras produce a rich blue.
3 polar bears.

When asked why they did this, which is what my kids really wanted to know. Marcus said it was very invigorating. I am sure it was.

Neat Capital Branding Photoshoot

Neat Capital is a mortgage firm located in Southport, Ct. I photographed their branding when they were located across from the railroad station in Westport. Neat’s old office was actually the location of our first photo studio in Westport from 1969- 2000.

The new office is much brighter than the old office and you can see this from the pictures I took. Justin was looking for fresh images of his fellow employees and the space was very easy to workaround.

I really enjoy branding photography. I find it a challenge in working with the surroundings and to create images that the client can use to promote their business.

Our first snow!! … Images

I couldn’t hold back. I had to go out. Yes, I have a four-wheel-drive vehicle, but I am always concerned about the people who have to work the streets to make them passable. But with the first snow, I had to venture out and grab some snow shots. So, here they are. Just a few…

Love my neighbor’s cupola, I always start here.
Can’t miss with a Longshore drive by.
no golf today.
I always love this angle, it is like a family portrait for me. Family of trees.
“When I no longer thrill to the first snow of the season, I’ll know I’m growing old.- Lady Bird Johnson.

All images were shot on my newest camera. The Fujifilm x pro1. A birthday gift to me, I am really enjoying this camera a lot. A true rangefinder camera with a really good “feel.”

Pinstripes Branding Photoshoot

Sherri contacted me to photograph Pinstripes restaurant in the Norwalk Connecticut mall. Also known as The Sono Collection. This restaurant is so much fun and it has a little of everything for everyone. I mean there is Bocci, bowling and fabulous food. I could have just hung out by the pizza oven all night, but I had a job to photograph.

The bowling alley has unique images above the pins.
There are many lanes for bowling parties.

I have known Sherri for many years. Sherri had me photograph for her when she worked at The Artisan in Southport, Ct.

The smile says it all.
Never a dull moment.
I really like this place.
Can you feel the energy?

Photographing for corporate clients is one of the many genres that I photograph. I enjoy people, so it is no surprise that most of my focus is on what people eat, what they build, or what they do. I am as comfortable photographing people eating pizza as much as photographing an interior of a building. To me, it is always telling a story with photographs.
